Loretta Admits “Pulling a DiVincenzo” But Don’t Worry… It’s Legal!

Senator Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck) admitted yesterday at Blue Jersey that she’s pulling the same pension scam as Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo: drawing a public pensions while still living on the state payroll!

I’m sure Senator Weinberg expected to get away with it. Democrats have always tried to pass this self-described “feisty grandma” off as a humble pensioner out to do good and right wrongs for New Jersey’s underprivileged. It’s not that simple Save Jerseyans. It never is. As my buddy Matt Rooney always loved to point out, Weinberg is an expert at talking out both sides of her mouth and playing the victim card when she gets caught. She drones on about ethics and reform on the Senate floor while lying in bed with some of the state’s shadiest politicians. One time she even voted against a major ethics reform bill… by mistake?

But Loretta Weinberg’s only defense for her latest charade is the sympathy card:

“I am now paid $49,000 for being a State Senator and about $36,000 annually in my state pension. Though I never went in to public service to make money, I am grateful for this income at this time of my life, because of the situation Bernie Madoff created for me.  I never thought about hiding any of this, but the news about the Essex County Executive and the Cape May Surrogate has made me feel awkward. The circumstances might be very different, but the result is essentially the same.

So there you have it. I am not apologizing for any decisions I made. And it is legal! My public life, along with my personal disclosure forms, have been appropriately transparent …”

There’s plenty of acts that are wrong regardless of their legality.  Trenton is rife with examples. Thousands of overtaxed New Jerseyans who are living on much less than Loretta’s $85,000 per year have learned to live with them. How can you expect us to feel sorry for you, Senator?

Do the right thing for once and surrender your pension to the taxpayers!!!
