The Great Gaziewski?

We all know that New Jersey Democrats are removed from reality, Save Jerseyans.

Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth, Mercer) thinks one prominent Trenton Dem leader is removed… from the Planet Earth?

What follows is certainly one of the more original press releases we’ve seen in awhile. It’s not easy to make a dry topic like pension reform enjoyable! God bless anyone who can pull it off:

PRESS RELEASE: O’SCANLON: NJ DEMOCRAT LEADER KIDNAPPED BY ALIENS!

REPLACED BY CLONE FROM ANOTHER PLANET WHERE

LAWS OF MATHEMATICS AND ECONOMICS APPARENTLY DON’T APPLY!

Assemblyman Wisniewski needs to brush up on his math skills if he thinks a $500 million tax increase, which has already been targeted by other Democrats to use for jobs, schools, hospitals and many other programs, will allow the state to make a $3.5 billion pension payment, Assembly Republican Budget Officer Declan O’Scanlon said today.

“Everyone knows we need long-term reform of the state’s pension system in order to keep promises to thousands of state workers who deserve a solvent system when they retire,” O’Scanlon, R-Monmouth and Mercer, said. “Everyone, that is, except for Assembly Democrats such as John Wisniewski whose party’s ‘solution’ is to raise taxes and then ‘find a way’ to pay the remaining $3 billion without a reform plan. That’s an outrageous break from reality that shows a frightening lack of understanding of the laws of mathematics.”

O’Scanlon, who along with fellow Budget Committee member Gary Chiusano, R-Sussex, Hunterdon and Morris, sponsors a comprehensive pension reform bill, A-3796, which would preserve the system and make it affordable for taxpayers, said Democrats continue to pander to several different groups by overpromising what could be done with an income tax hike that might generate $500 million in the short-term, but would threaten the ability to stabilize the state’s economy and regain the 225,800 private sector jobs New Jersey lost from 2006 to 2010.

In recent weeks the Democrats have promised to use the $500 million tax increase on programs such as pensions ($3.5 billion), property tax relief ($2.1 billion), school funding ($1.6 billion), job incentives ($800 million) municipal aid ($445 million), pre-school funding ($400 million), Medicaid ($300 million), nursing homes ($70 million) and women’s health programs ($8 million).

“Responsible leaders make bold but realistic promises,” O’Scanlon said. “They don’t promise to spend more than $9 billion the state doesn’t have for short-term political gain while ignoring the problems caused by the short-sightedness of politicians from both parties and union leaders.

“The same Democratic leaders, who didn’t make pension payments when their party controlled the Governor’s office, refuse to change their mindset of overpromising and under-delivering,” O’Scanlon added. “I have confidence that the various groups Democrats pander to are smart enough to see through this sham and demand the kind of serious reform that will benefit everyone in the long-term.”
