Atlantic City Being Beautified By Nucky Thompson and HBO

Now this is advertising!

The only New Jersey based television show that does not make me embarrassed, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, is making a return for its second season next month. In anticipation of the season premier, HBO has embarked on a campaign to fund roadside beautification in Atlantic City and credit the funding to the shows quasi-fictional-but-based-on-a-real-person lead character, Enoch ‘Nucky’ Thompson.

For those unfamiliar, Nucky Thompson is the treasurer of Atlantic City during the prohibition era, and is based on the life of Enoch ‘Nucky’ Johnson, who actually was the treasurer and a powerful Republican Party boss in his day.

Here’s to hoping HBO keeps going with this initiative, we all know Atlantic City could use a little help…
