Congratulations are in order for our own James Beattie, Save Jerseyans, who was worn in last night as treasurer of the Bergen County Young Republican Organization.
The big event took place at the Bergen YR’s Reorganization Meeting held at the BCRO in Hackensack. Your Blogger-in-Chief was honored to deliver a “keynote address” to the crowd of about 100 enthusiastic attendees turned out to support their new slate of young leaders. County Executive Kathleen Donovan and Freeholders Rob Hermansen and Maura DeNicola were all on hand to swear in the new board:

Vice Chairman: Daniel Eller (Old Tappan)
Secretary: Matthew Gilson (Rutherford)
Treasurer: James Beattie (BERGENFIELD)

This is nothing more than the Donovan Marcus,Hermansen cheer leading youth wing. These kids are a disgrace. We remember when the YRs had serious people like Vince Micco, Jim Derrig and Henry Wallace who remained neutral and helped all Republicans

When young people don't engage public affairs, we call them "bums." When they do, they're a "disgrace" because a plurality of the membership support one side or the other in some stupid intra-party feud?
This is politics my friend. Don't take yourself, or it, so seriously. I'm proud of those guys! The Bergen GOP was a wasteland just four short years ago.

And maybe you're right? I don't know you, and I don't know what your specific beef is with the Bergen GOP. I certainly don't know what the future holds.
I do know that you can't blame a bunch of 22yr olds for getting involved with the party and working hard to help elected Republican officials. Let's elevate the debate.
The mission of the Bergen YRs in the past was to raise money to fund the absentee vote program for the county candidates. The last time they did this
was back during the Donovan election of 2008. It seems that the cast of characters who now call themselves Bergen YRs are either bloggers from out of county or paid employees of the Donovan administration. As your photos show, this is why you only get 8 people at your meetings.
Matt the only beef I have is that they run after liberal groups, seek them out then give them big jobs at the county level and these 22 year olds are ok with that.
What are you talking about? Henry Wallace and most of those are people are older yet still YRs and are great supporters of the incoming board
8 people in attendance? Kathe Donovan, Freeholders DeNicola, Hermansen, and Felice were there, as well as Senator Cardinale and BCRO Chairman Bob Yudin. There were mayors, counilmembers and party officials there as well. They all came to support the new YR leaders, who actually work to help the Republican party, rather than complain about it on the Internet. This was one of the best YR events in some time and it looks like the group is heading in the right direction.
Listen up Grow up : the only reason why the Chairman was there was to make sure that Hermansen's hyenas did not spread any more lies about our Bergen County superintendent of elections Patti Di Constanso

M. Cohen, this is article is about the YRs and their new leadership. It was not about Yudin, or Hermansen. The fact that you would make it about them is a sign of your obession with the situation. Get a life.
Once again, congrats to the new YR board, its a shame that you have to read these ridiculous comments written by pathetic people.
As a county Committee member I too received a letter from the Chairman stating that Patti Di is furious at Hermansen for lying about discussions he claimed he has with her about the convention date. Issues aside, if a candidate is a proven liar without integrity what does that say about the handful of YRs who showed up to his fundraiser last night.?
What does it say about you that you are trashing these young people on the internet? You must be a person of the highest moral integrity, or a loser. Ill bet its the second.
I think its great to see self proclaimed "county committee members" trashing the youth of the party on an internet blogging. The problem is not the young people, they are energetic and have helped many candidates. The problem is the old guard, people like you, who are beholden to the party's past and not its future.
Grow up, How many campaigns have you ran in Bergen County and more to the point how many thousands of dollars have you donated to the BCRO ? .
Maybe we can look it up on elec. You live with your parents and have no responsibilities and have the audacity to disrespect the older people. If it was not for the old guard you would never have been allowed to run in Bergenfield or whatever little town you say you live in.
It seems that the Bergen youth have a problem with old people. They will be old some day too. They should listen more and be more careful who they align themselves with, and they should remember that energy without knowledge is dangerous.
