KWON DIVE: NJ Senate Judiciary Committee Rejects Christie High Court Nominee in Party-Line Vote

Many have questioned what the alleged “deal” is between the Christie Administration and the Norcross Machine.

Well, Save Jerseyans, we now know it had nothing to do with the State Supreme Court!

The Democrat-dominated committee just refused to report the nomination of Philip Kwon to the full Senate by a party line vote, 7-6.

This decision followed a day full of contentious debate, closed door wrangling and harsh words.

Outraged Senate Republican Judiciary Committee Members Gerald Cardinale, Kevin O’Toole, Joe Kyrillos, Christopher Bateman, and Michael J. Doherty issued a rare joint statement following the Judiciary Committee’s rejection of Kwon:

Today, Democratic Senators on the Judiciary Committee rejected an exceptionally well-qualified Supreme Court nominee for no good reason whatsoever. From the moment Mr. Kwon was nominated, the Majority engaged in a campaign of intensely personal character assassination centering around issues that were completely immaterial to his fitness to serve on the court.

The Majority’s entire line of questioning and basis for rejecting his nomination centered on events that had absolutely nothing to do with Phil Kwon.

In short, Phil Kwon was railroaded out of sheer partisan animosity toward the governor. Theirs was a rejection seeking a reason. Faced with a nominee whom there was no rational basis to reject, the Majority decided to create one based on the actions of others for which he bears no legal, ethical, or personal responsibility.

If the Majority thinks that its own political ends are what matters in this process, they are mistaken. The only thing that matters is the public’s right to Supreme Court justices that are well qualified, fair, and nominated by a Governor to whom the voters gave this awesome responsibility.

Their petty actions today are a disgrace to the legislature and the people we serve.

  1. They are only devoted to a cause when they think it will embarrass a republican ….now watch Sweeney appoint a asian american to some worthless post to gain back a few votes he thinks he lost …

  2. Most builders would agree that the LAST thing you want is a brick that abrobss water. Anything damp is also cold a result of the Latent heat of Evaporation and here in the uK we certainly don't want to chill our walls. Penetrating damp is also caused by porous bricks and is a big problem here.Rainwater harvesting is essential for any society aiming for sustainability, but use a proper rainwater harvesting system. Rain is clean, free and has a zero carbon footprint why waste it?
