Dreamworks-Backed Super PAC Takes Page from Corzine’s Losing Playbook

When Jon “MF’n Global” Corzine accused Chris Christie of championing breast cancer in August 2009, Save Jerseyans, I noted how “Jon Corzine proves that money can’t buy class.”

Well, apparently the hundreds of thousands of dollars bundled by Corzine for President Obama and his allies also  couldn’t buy themany class.

Priorities USA Action, a pro-Obama Super PAC, is the latest culprit. Priorities is running a series of television spots featuring workers affected by Bain Capital’s consulting. Their latest spot is particularly disgusting. It features Joe Soptic, a former employee at GST Steel in Kansas City, who accuses Mitt Romney of catalyzing his wife’s death. Yikes. What’s basis for a such a wild charge?

Bain Capital closed his plant as part of the company’s 2001 bankruptcy; Joe lost his insurance, his wife allegedly declined to visit the doctor because of it and ultimately succumbed to Stage 4 cancer.

A little bit of a stretch, right? But hey, according to OpenSecrets.org, Steve Spielberg’s “Dreamworks Animation” gave Priorities USA Action over $2 million in 2012… those guys are fantasy experts!

It’s also important to know that Joe’s company’s bankruptcy happened AFTER Mitt Romney left Bain Capital. It’s a matter of public record — confirmed by an official Massachusetts Ballot Law Commission review — that Mitt left Bain in 1999 to save the Winter Olympics.

But when have liberals ever left the truth get in the way of a good story designed to smear Republicans?

In New Jersey, Corzine’s false and malicious ads obviously failed to make a dent. Not only because they were utterly and completely inaccurate, but also owing to the fact that Chris Christie’s own beloved mother had passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. Opposition research #fail!

I’m sure this bottom-of-the-barrel garbage from Priorities USA Action will yield a similar result from Obama in 2012. However, if I were Mitt, I’d cut a similar retort to the one delivered by Chris Christie (and posted below) in 2009. Showing a little anger/emotion would help with the voters. It’s certainly warranted.
