On the Road Again

Governor Chris Christie (R-New Jersey) may be one short step away from the vice presidency this morning.

Or he may not be in the running at all!

No one seems to know, Save Jerseyans. The only thing we DO know from the outside looking in is that it looks much more possible than it did two months ago or even just two weeks ago. We’re guaranteed to find out in the next two weeks; my bet is next week after the Olympics wraps up.

In the interim, Acting Governor Kim Guadagno is signing road-renaming legislation, conducting a month-long “Agribusiness” tour and sampling the local flavor at Italian American festivals. All in a day’s work for a New Jersey politician! Will she soon have to step in and fill Christie’s shoes on a permanent basis?

Almost 3,000 miles away, Governor Christie is on the road agains as he continues a tireless quest to help fill the Romney campaign’s increasingly-ample coffers. He’ll headline a fundraiser for GOP gubernatorial hopeful Rob McKenna at 8 a.m. in Vancouver, Washington; he was working for McKenna yesterday, too, telling a packed fundraiser crowd that he had a good “feeling” about the Pacific Northwestern Republican’s chances.  Then it’s off to a 1 p.m. fundraiser for another Republican candidate for governor, Rick Hill, this time in the Northern Rockies’ city of Missoula, Montana. The Treasure State… appropriate, right?

Christie is expected back in the Garden State next week. In what capacity remains to be seen…
