A new internal polling memo released by the Runyan campaign shows the freshman incumbent leading his NJ-3 challenger, Shelley Adler, by a massive 17-point margin: 51% to 34%.
Runyan also leads among 3rd Congressional District Republicans (80-8%), Independents (47-30%), Seniors (57-31%) and Women (51-37%); interestingly, Adler is only winning 68% of Democrats while Runyan attracts 23%.
In a press release announcing the poll’s findings, Runyan spokesman/consultant/strategist Chris Russell was quick to point that Nancy Pelosi hasn’t pushed the idea of New Jersey House pick-ups in recent public appearances.
“Shelley Adler’s negative ads are backfiring,” added Russell, “while Jon Runyan’s record of reaching across party lines is resonating with Republicans, Democrats and Independents in Burlington and Ocean counties. The solid 51-34% lead in our latest internal polling makes that very clear.”
Adler has released three television advertisements thus far, one of which is “positive” while the other two are very negative. Very negative. The first, if you’ll recall, showed Runyan look-alike tackling a senior citizen.

The sample, by the way, included 400 likely voters and carries a +/- 4.9% margin of error.
