REPORT: Christie, Jindal Slated to Lead the Republican Governors Association Over Next Two Years

Republican Governors Meeting at the Aspen Institute

Big news today for Governor Chris Christie.

According to CNN, he’s slated to take over the Republican Governors Association (RGA) in 2014… provided he is reelected in 2013.

Governor Bobby Jindal will lead the organization in 2013, when his primary objective will be to reelect Christie and the outgoing chairman, Bob McDonnell of Virginia.

This news isn’t all too unsurprising given Jindal’s popularity with conservatives and Louisiana residents. Christie, for his part, is the GOP’s second most recognizable figure (second only to Mitt Romney) and one of the party’s most prolific fundraisers. Governor Christie recently turned down the RGA vice chairmanship; hence, today’s news will lead some to speculate that the Governor will aggressively ramp up his national ambitions after securing reelection in the Garden State.
