Is Hurricane Bob a Direct Hit? Daily Caller Allegations Sweep Internet

New Jersey was already the unlikely center of American’s political universe this election eve week in the wake of brutal Hurricane Sandy.

Is the country ready for Hurricane Bob, too?

Everyone is talking about a late breaking Daily Caller story hyped by Matt Drudge, alleging that New Jersey’s junior U.S. Senator Bob Menendez paid two women for “sex acts” during an Easter visit to Casa de Campo, an upscale Dominican Republic beach resort.

If this story has legs, Save Jerseyans, it could quickly turn into one of the biggest stories of Election 2012. The reason is obvious. Control of the U.S. Senate remains tight depending on which polls you’re looking at; pundits will wonder whether the Daily Caller story can propel the campaign of Republican challenger Joe Kyrillos with just five days left to go before voting begins. Up until now, the RCP average showed Menendez leading by almost 20-points.

Menendez spent yesterday touring storm damage with President Obama and other leading New Jersey politicians. A spokesperson for the Senator reportedly dismissed the story as “a completely false accusation.”

  5. Unless a video is included that shows Menendez in the act, this story won't grow legs. Even with a video, I am not so sure.
