Conservative Former Assemblyman Trades Trenton for County Courthouse

Former Assemblyman Gary Chiusano was sworn in as Sussex County surrogate earlier Monday, Save Jerseyans, after five years of service in the General Assembly representing deep-red LD24.
Superior Court Judge Edward Gannon administered the oath of office at Sussex County Courthouse with a full courtroom of supporters looking on.
Chiusano was appointed by Governor Chris Christie to fill a vacancy opened up by the resignation of former Surrogate Nancy Fitzgibbons back in December; the State Senate confirmed the appointment on February 4th.
Then comes the question of succession. Chiusano and his former running mates, State Senator Steve Oroho and Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose, have all endorsed Sussex Freeholder Director Parker Space to take his Assembly seat.
A special convention will soon take place consisting of the LD24 GOP committee members; assuming Space emerges victorious, he is expected to face Frelinghuysen Township resident as well as former federal and state candidate Mark Quick in the June Primary. May the best man win, Save Jerseyans!
For now, we wish Surrogate Chiusano a long and happy tenure.
