South Jersey Native Wins Super Bowl XLVII; Rutgers Alum Ray Rice Among Victorious Baltimore Ravens
By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog
It was one of the most exciting, crazy, nerve-racking Super Bowl performances in NFL history, Save Jerseyans, and a power outage-induced momentum nearly allowed the San Francisco 49ers to come back.
But in the end, Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco and his teammate Ray Rice are “going to Disney World” and preparing to get fitted for their Super Bowl rings. The former is a South Jersey native of the tiny suburb of Audubon in Camden County. The latter is an alumnus of Rutgers University where he was a beloved star running back.
Tonight the Garden State couldn’t be prouder of both. Congratulations, gents. Just never forget where you came from…
We’ll see you next year at the Meadowlands for Super Bowl 48, America!
In case you missed it (see photo to the left), Governor Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie were in NOLA today to accept the official Super Bowl “hand off” from LA Governor Bobby Jindal.
Who knows which teams will make it next year, but as the snow falls gently in New Jersey tonight, I’m sure it’ll be one hell of a spectacle at Turnpike Exit 16W.
