More Federal Sandy Failures

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Governor Chris Christie’s pre-Labor Day Weekend Shore tour took him to Sea Bright on Wednesday, Save Jerseyans, and he was uncharacteristically critical of the federal’s government’s approach to helping small businesses. The Governor reserved his strongest criticism for the federal Small Business Administration’s voluminous applications, urging New Jerseyans to forge ahead anyway and seek federal monies available to them:

The Governor is justifiably eager for Jersey Shore residents to seize upon state alternatives. For example, of the $260 million in federal aid allotted for a grant program designed to help damaged businesses, only $2.6 million has been disbursed thus far. That’s a lot of money left sitting on the field.

Federal incompetence obviously isn’t a new theme in the post-Sandy world. We’ve been covering the more egregious examples for months. Our only continuing hope is that some Garden State voters learn from this horrendous experience and begin to take the issue of federalism a little more seriously before the next disaster strikes.
