GOP on TV First in LD1

Democrats and their allies are ducking debates and pouring big money in New Jersey’s First Legislative District, Save Jerseyans, but it’s the Republican ticket that’s first on the air with a television spot this time around.

Titled “What If?” and running 30 seconds, the biographically-centric ad endeavors to introduce LD1 voters to Senate hopeful Susan Adelizzi-Smith, a small businesswoman seeking to unseat incumbent Democrat Jeff Van Drew:

For those of you tuning in for the first time to Save Jersey and/or this particular race: most politicos consider LD1 a top GOP pick up opportunity in 2013. Van Drew held on by 3,700 votes in 2011 out of nearly 46,000 cast, largely fueled by Democrat turnout in Cumberland County, and the Republican ticket came without about 1,000 votes of capturing an Assembly seat. 2013 is a different ballgame and one member of the Dem ticket is brand new and untested. NJ GOP leaders and local chieftains are hoping the Chris Christie “wave” will be enough to close that gap and make history.
