I’m With You Pal

UnemployedMarch

I lost my job in August, when the healthcare company that I have worked at for the last 11 years lost funding from its bank and was forced to pay back 10 million dollars over the next 90 days or liquidate all its assets. As a result, seventy-five percent of us were laid off in one afternoon. Without warning careers were ruined, livelihoods lost, dreams were dashed and insecurity set in for hundreds of families. Like too many of you, we are now members of the 14.3% of Americans that are unemployed, under-employed or have no prospect of work in sight.

Then there are the patients to consider. We are the world’s leader in what we do for patients suffering from stokes, burns, joint contractures and injuries of the soft connective tissue. While there are companies and products that claim to meet the same patient needs that we do, few if any have the clinical experience or the matching patented technology to benefit patients’ lives like we do.

Which leads me to my point: Our company didn’t fail because our services are not in high demand. We failed because of the burdens of dealing with Compliance, frivolous so-called whistle blower claims and lawsuits, Big Banking and Bigger Government. All have a chilling effect on small business operations and sooner or later even companies that provide an important service and a valuable product must close their doors or layoff talent when the stresses are added up.

Despite being highly educated, having special skills and high job retention (most of us have been with the company 10 or more years) many of us will never find a job or a career that pays as much or is as rewarding as what we had. We are not alone in our misery, because Obamacare creates an incentive for businesses not to hire.

Senator Ted Cruz states it best in the Hill.com, “because employers with more than 50 full-time employees will face a $5,000 penalty for not providing health insurance benefits, those employers would instead hire immigrants with resident provisional immigration (RPI) status instead of U.S. workers.” Additionally, all the data indicates that the longer someone is unemployed the more unemployable they appear to job providers.

Obama claims that the economy is adding jobs, but the facts tell a different story. The Washington Times reports that since Obama was elected the U.S economy has added more part-time jobs than full-time jobs by a ratio of 7 to 1. Although there are other contributing factors for the jobs climate, Obamacare is the prime reason for this failure and for him to claim that his policies are working is an outright deception.

Obama has accomplices that are partners in his economic debacle…
