U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ05) gets it, Save Jerseyans.

“I am deeply disappointed that President Obama and the Senate refused to come to the negotiation table and failed to fund the federal government,” Garrett said in a statement released Tuesday after the partial shutdown had already begun. “In vote after vote, House Republicans have looked to compromise, as has historically been the case when debating budgets, but Democrats in Washington refused to budge.”

“By an overwhelming majority, my constituents have made it clear that they are concerned with ObamaCare and do not believe it is ready for prime time,” he continued. “While President Obama has given waivers to his political backers, the American people are demanding fairness for all. It is my hope that President Obama and the Senate will take this time to begin honest discussions with the House and come to a quick resolution to fund the federal government.”

From his mouth to Obama’s ear!

Meanwhile, the typically more moderate Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ04) blasted the President for having “not acted like an adult” during a press availability.

Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ07) was more restrained but no less ambigous concerning who he thought bore the majority of the blame. “Over the past several weeks the U.S. House has passed proposals to fund the operations of the government, set responsible federal spending levels, roll back taxes on medical innovation, remove special exemptions for members of Congress under ObamaCare and extend to individuals and working families the same reprieve from the harmful effects of the healthcare law that the President has extended to big businesses,” Lance said in a statement released by his office. “The Senate, working with President Obama, has continually rejected these efforts and refused to compromise or negotiate.”
