Brown, Amodeo and Davis in LD2

Updated 11/7/13 @ 10:15 a.m.

Election 2013 isn’t over for everyone, Save Jerseyans. Assembly GOP’ers are concerned that their limited but nevertheless welcome gains in LD1 and (likely) LD38 could be partially mitigated by a surprise loss in LD2 when the dust finally settles over at the clerk’s office.

Assemblyman John Amodeo (R-2) is clinging to a narrow lead of between 300 and 400 274 votes at this hour (h/t AC Press) over Democratic challenger Vincent Mazzeo. Approximately 1,200 provisional ballots were produced by Tuesday’s election, of which roughly 500 came from heavily-Democratic Atlantic City.

But with all of that being said, Republicans won a historic mayoral race in the Boardwalk Empire last night, so those with knowledge of the effort remain cautiously optimistic that the leftover ballots won’t swamp the veteran Assemblyman’s slim margin.

We’ll know soon enough. Stay tuned…
