Bills I’d Like to See Introduced in 2014, Part 1
The top whatever of 2013, resolutions/wish lists for 2014, you know the drill. And I’m no exception. I’ve got my own list of bills I’d like to see someone with enough guts to introduce in Trenton. And by someone, I mean a Republican, because I doubt any Democrat would consider any of these bills. So I will be posting one bill a day this week. And today’s wish is…
Make New Jersey an “Obamacare Sanctuary State”
When liberals do not like federal laws, they simply ignore them. They then go a step further and pass state local laws that not only defy those laws, but actively protect those who break them. Agree or disagree on the issue, just look at their tactics on illegal immigration, and tell me I’m wrong. I’m not. So we common sense conservatives need to do the same thing.
And we should start with Obamacare.
I’d like someone to introduce a bill making New Jersey a sanctuary state from the individual mandate. You live in New Jersey, the government cannot force you to buy health insurance. It cannot tax you for not buying health insurance. And if IRS taxes you for not buying health insurance, that fine can be credited against your New Jersey income taxes. This way, not one New Jerseyan will pay one dime if they decide that the federal government does not have the right to force citizens to buy things.
All the New Jerseyans who want to buy health insurance but cannot afford to due to Obamacare’s price increases will not pay a dime. The 800,000 New Jerseyans to whom Obama lied, who lost their insurance even though they liked it, will not a pay dime because of Obama’s lie.
“But what about the lost revenue?” will be the mantra of every lefty in Trenton. Well, I have a few responses to them.
One, I know that money will do more good in the hands of New Jersey citizens than Trenton politicians. Since Obamacare author Barack Obama took office, New Jersey median family income has dropped by 6.67%. They are being forced to do more with less. If they don’t have insurance, odds are it’s because they can’t afford the higher new Obamacare premiums. So taking more money out of their pockets is immoral. Everyday people being able to afford to pay the mortgage and buy groceries is more important than Trenton being able to dole out more goodies to special interests. Give us all a break.
Two, New Jersey’s spending has gone up, not down, while New Jersey’s citizen’s income has gone down since Obama took office. Democrat legislators in Trenton have more than enough money’ those whom Trenton nominally represents do not. Instead of complaining that you now have less money, realize that your constituents have been dealing with that problem for 5 years. You don’t need more revenue, you need to stop wasting the money you already get from us! You’re wasting millions and instead of cutting that waste, you demand more from taxpayers! Stop it! Offset the loss in revenue by cutting wasteful spending.
May I suggest starting with the $24 million the Department of Labor improperly paid out to imprisoned convicts last year via “an error,” an error they are refusing to correct, which means it’s going to happen again. Try starting there.
Three, send the bill from the tax credits to Obama. All you Democrats in Trenton supported his re-election in 2012, an election which you told us was a referendum on Obamacare. Maybe he’ll payback that support by paying you back?
So, anyone willing to turn this into a bill?
Icing on the cake: give businesses a similar credit if they incur an Obamacare penalty. This will encourage hiring, which right now employers are not keen on doing.
