Bridgegate Gets Real with Emails

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

George_Washington_Bridge,_HAER_NY-129-8There’s still no evidence that it ever crossed the Big Guy’s desk, Save Jerseyans, but it looks like a senior member of his administration may be connected to the Bridgegate controversy. Not good.

Media obtained emails first published by The Record (click here) appear to feature a top Christie staffer, Bridget Kelly, telling former NY/NJ Port Authority official David Wildstein that it’s time for “traffic problems in Fort Lee,” a potentially ominous insinuation that the Assembly’s transportation committee is certain to harp on during tomorrow’s pre-scheduled hearing.

They’re not flattering, folks. In fact, the content of the emails is more than a little disgusting at times…

I’ve said before that this scandal (notwithstanding the need for an independent ethical inquiry) wouldn’t matter much politically unless it could be tied to the Administration’s inner circle.

Well, this latest revelation potentially moves the ball in that direction. And then some. I’m sorry to say it but that’s where we are this morning.

Governor Christie told reporters he was unaware of any involvement by anyone in his administration in the Fort Lee lane closures at the G.W. Bridge. Even if the Governor’s statement was made in earnest, and there’s no reason as of yet to second-guess that they were completely honest, these emails will nevertheless give Democrats plenty of ammunition to keep the ball in the air for a long time to come. Blood is in the water…

…that also means it’s time for heads to roll. Anyone involved in the abuse of their office should resign. Immediately. That should go without saying but sometimes we need to pipe up anyway and remind them we’re watching.

  1. Not only should heads roll, but anyone who thought it a good idea to screw over the kids of political opponents should be persona non grata in the State of New Jersey. This is the very height of unacceptable behavior and speaks to the tone of bullying set at the very top. Just awful, awful stuff.

  2. “They are the children of Buono voters,” she said, referring to Mr. Christie’s Democratic opponent, Barbara Buono, who was trailing consistently in the polls and lost by a wide margin.

All I can say is WOW…..

  3. Everyone close to the action knows that nothing of significance happens without the Gov's approval. They also understand his stubborn arrogance. So he will deny everything even as the facts point closer and closer. It only takes one to break the omerta…

  4. Christie has laid a very clever trap for the democrats ,and now they have taken the bait ….snap ,Jeez they will look stupid on this one

  5. I pay a quick visit each day some sites and sites to read articles, but this web site
    offers quality based content.
