Here we go again! This
is all we know, Save Jerseyans, was tweeted out by NBC’s New York affiliate around 6 p.m. on Thursday evening, Save Jerseyans:
NBC 4 reports that “[t]he criminal investigation is focusing in part on the senator’s ties to William and Roberto Isaias and whether the senator crossed a line in trying to help the two brothers stay in the United States.”
More alleged details concerning Hudson Bob’s latest headlines from the Free Beacon…
The brothers have been fugitives for more than a decade and were sentenced in absentia for embezzlement, and their family members have given considerable donations to Menendez and the Democratic Party. Federal officials are questioning whether Menendez broke the law in helping the brothers stay in the U.S., with multiple officials saying Menendez wrote letters and made phone calls to the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department on their behalf.
One example was an April 2, 2012 letter wrote to a high-ranking DHS official urging he give the matter an expedited review, asking for full consideration to be given to the Isaias brothers as they fought against extradition and maintained their innocence.
Hmmm. We’ll let you know if we find out more.
Curiously it’s not on the NBC 4 website or anywhere else online, but New Jersey’s press corps/political types are retweeting it like crazy.
Either way, expect folks to be cautious after a slew of investigations last year were inconclusive, resulting only in some reimbursements for plane rides. It’s not like he closed a bridge and is potentially challenging Hillary Clinton or anything…
