In terms of how deep the rabbit hole may go and how many tax dollars were wasted, Save Jerseyans, I maintain my prior statement that U.S. Senator Cory Booker’s Watershedgate, unfolding as he Tweeted and former director Linda Watkins-Brashear allegedly participated, is as bad or worse than what happened over at the G.W. Bridge.
The Mainstream Media doesn’t agree. Or at least they’re not willing to say so. This key line from David Giambusso’s Star-Ledger report is very, very telling:
Through her attorneys, Watkins-Brashear said the report wrongly laid blame at her feet and said she acted at all times with the knowledge and approval of then Mayor Cory Booker’s administration.
Booker isn’t admitting to anything. Is he hiding something? Or is Watkins-Brashear lying?
Our old friend Phil Kerpen from BookerFail.com reinforces the reality that Watershedgate was “no secret” around Cory Booker’s city hall:
Perhaps most significantly, Booker installed his close friend, law partner, and campaign treasurer Elnardo Webster (also the recipient of a nifty tax abatement) as the watershed’s general counsel.
It was an extremely lucrative arrangement for Webster and the firm, which was paid more than a million dollars in the five years after Booker was elected mayor — at least $400,000 of which was not authorized:
That’s over a million dollars going to a law firm, Trenk DiPasquale, that was at the same time paying then-mayor Cory Booker a total of $689,000 under what Booker now claims was a “separation agreement,” despite the fact he reported it on his tax returns as earned income from a business in which he materially participated.
Am I the only one who feels like I need a bath?
Watkins-Brashear has reportedly since fallen back on her Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination. Democrats in this state are much more familiar with that portion of the Bill of Rights than most, a familiarity that developed long before the names Wildstein, Stepien and Kelly entered into the public arena.
Is the MSM in New Jersey going to start asking what Cory Booker knew? And WHEN he knew it? Like they’ve been doing to Chris Christie for months?
Or do only Republican presidential aspirants get raked over the coals when their subordinates screw up?
For all intents and purposes, folks, it looks like the media intends “plead the 5th” as Watershedgate plays out rather than admit to journalistic malpractice.
