Add state Senator Jennifer Beck to the list of Rich Pezzullo’s Monmouth supporters, Save Jerseyans.
The campaign tells me that the Monmouth legislator will “second” his nomination at Saturday morning’s county convention. Pezzullo’s wife is slated to voice the initial nomination from the floor as Monmouth County committee members decide who to endorse for the right to face Cory Booker in November. Pezzullo has already won the backing of Asm. Declan O’Scanlon.
I can’t speak to the convention bylaws (I’m no expert), but Pezzullo looks strong 12 hours out. Rich is also doing quite well right now in our online #NJSen poll, too. It isn’t scientific but it’s fun! Click here to cast your ballot.
Good! Goldberg’s bubble is going to burst HARD when Pezzullo wins Monmouth. If he can carry the momentum in to Middlesex, and make this a 6-3 or 5-4 race (depending what happens tonight in Mercer, which is a crapshoot- I’m told only Pezzullo and Goldberg are there), Goldberg will be on the ropes.
I think Pezzullo missing Monmouth County’s Candidates Dinner tonight was a bad thing. He lost Mercer and blew off his own home County. I was split between him and Murray. Going with Murray because of his strong speech tonight.
Besides, I have never been a fan of Jen Beck and I don’t trust her choices. She lost me when she played games on the marriage issue. Her flip flop was solely for political reasons since she inherited Asbury Park & Ocean Grove.
Max: he announced his candidacy at a meeting of his own township republican club and has visited tons of other towns’ clubs as well. Now Murray’s coming in as a desperate man who hasn’t even shown his face other places. All his eggs are in the Monmouth and Middlesex basket, and if he fails to win at least one, he will become an also-ran.
