Traffic Jam Narrows GOP Senate Field

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

turkAnd then there were five four, Save Jerseyans.

A stranger-than-fiction petition day report from Matt Friedman:

Turkavage said he collected more than the required 1,000 signatures, but was busy today and didn’t give himself enough of a cushion to make it to Trenton with traffic. The state Division of Elections didn’t cut him any slack.

”To make a long story short, I called them to see if I could get down there. They said if you’re not there until 4:00, don’t bother coming,” he said.

Turkavage said he’s turning around and heading home – once he gets out of the traffic jam.

…?!?!

And what it is about this state, politics and traffic these days?

In any event, Robert Turkavage, a former FBI agent, had just received the endorsement of Hunterdon County’s GOP organization last week. But this is kind of the major point behind our petitions process, right? If you can’t get your ducks in a row well enough to submit a couple or few hundred signatures on time, then how can you expect anyone to trust you with high office?

Chairman Henry Kuhl now needs to figure out what happens to his county line.

Moving on…

Four other GOP contenders submitted petitions today, having left their respective homes and campaign offices with sufficient time to allow for North Jersey traffic patterns. Incumbent Cory Booker (D-Twitter) submitted nearly 16,000 signatures.

  1. Another Case of Republican Electile Dysfunction. Where are all the CD1 Special Election Ballot Petitions?

  2. I’m glad he’s a former FBI agent. If there was a bank robbery or something by the time he got there to investigate the building would have been turned into medical offices. Of course, if Shaftan was still working for Sabrin I might suspect something else.
