Around and around we go, Save Jerseyans, and where we stop no one knows. Not yet.
The latest? According to the WSJ’s Heather Haddon, the U.S. Attorney issued a subpoena to Asm. John “The Wiz” Wisniewski’s Bridgegate SCI sometime last week seeking “’any and all records’ produced or obtained by the New Jersey Legislative Select Committee on Investigation in the course of its work.”
Don’t read too much into this development. U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman’s office is always going to be interested in anything the committee could have that he doesn’t as he seeks to obtain indictments from the convened grand jury. Still, as the U.S. Attorney forges forward, it’s becoming more difficult with every passing day for the SCI to justify duplicating (or frustrating) the primary investigating body’s work. The Wiz’s game of make believe is an awful expensive carbon copy for taxpayers when all of that time energy could be redirected to… for example… reviving the arbitration cap. Just a suggestion!
“Fishman” is an interesting last name for a guy slapping down a blind subpoena.
