Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) has been a one-man battle tank in the war to ride New Jersey of red light cameras, Save Jerseyans, and he’s made substantial progress.
Who’s been less-than cooperative? John Wisniewski, the SCI chairman who also happens to serve as chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee. The Wiz is an advocate for EXPANDING their use. Asm. O’Scanlon thinks he knows why, and he didn’t mince words in a press release aimed directly at the senior Democrat.
“I would respect him more if Wisniewski would have the testicular fortitude to say to the people of New Jersey, ‘hey, these things are all about the money and our needing a way to take more of yours’,” said O’Scanlon. “But we all know that won’t happen. Assemblyman Wisniewski has been on the receiving end of the lobbying money liberally doled out – and I’m sure much more promised if the program is extended – by the red-light camera companies, and we know how that works. There’s a lot of back scratching going on but in the end, the New Jersey motorists will end up bleeding out their hard earned money and legislators like Assemblyman Wisniewski will spout the camera company falsehoods and pull a muscle patting themselves on the back for ‘improving safety’ when all they have improved is their bottom line.”
He-he…
