His own election is still over a year away, Save Jerseyans, but with the DCCC actively targeting him again in 2016 (at least for now), freshman Rep. Tom MacArthur (R, NJ-03) is doubling-down on his committment to being a party-builder in 2015.
One focus? Westampton Townwship.
Congressman MacArthur is hitting the trail on Saturday morning (April 25th) for a private home meet-and-greet held in support Abraham Lopez, who’s served as Executive Director of the New Jersey Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development under Chris Christie, and attorney Karen Sampson, Republican candidates for Westampton Township Committee.
“We are honored that Congressman MacArthur would take time from his congressional duties to visit with us and to endorse our candidacy,” explained Lopez and Sampson in a join statement announcing the event.
To them, it’s a matter of emulating the work that their guest is already doing at the federal level. “Our leadership skills, accomplishments and passion for integrity ethical behavior are what our community demands; these are the qualities that Tom MacArthur has applied to his work in Washington, D.C.; these are traits that we aim to bring to Township Committee upon our election.”
Burlington County Republicans believe this low-turnout cycle offers opportunities in a number of down-ballot races including here all while working to build an elusive 5-0 freeholder board majority. It’s a familiar story in New Jersey electoral politics; although Mitt Romney got trounced in Democrat-dominated Westampton back in 2012, Governor Christie prevailed, 52.7% to 44.4%, one year later over Barbara Buono.
The GOP ticket are fighting to depose Deputy Mayor Robert G. Maybury, Jr. and Committeeman Robert Thorpe who is filling an unexpired term.

Gonna be an awesome time!
