Ocean County’s newest freeholder is a familiar face to New Jersey Republicans.

In an expected move, veteran NJGOP National Committeewoman Virginia “Ginny” Haines took her first step to join the all-Republican freeholder board on Tuesday night with a unanimous voice vote by 600-ish GOP county committee members in the Toms River Hotel’s ballroom.

Haines will take the oath of office on Wednesday, fill the unexpired term of retired Freeholder James Lacey and stand for election to a full term this fall.

Selected by the George Gilmore-led organization from approximately ten candidates, she’s also only the second woman ever to serve on the board.
