NEW POLL: Christie’s approval rating dips to 27% after Trump endorsement

christie calgaryDonald Trump may have built up a solid plurality lead among New Jersey Republican primary voters but that magic hasn’t rubbed off on his new top endorser, Chris Christie.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

A new Fairleigh Dickinson poll released Wednesday found 61% overall disapproval with his job performance. Only 30% approved. However, things got even worse when you drill down on the post-Trump endorsement interviews (most polls are based off of interviews conducted over the course of more than one day):

Before the Trump endorsement, 33 percent of survey respondents said they approved of the Governor. However, those polled in the days after the endorsement were decidedly less supportive, with barely a quarter (27%) of those voters content with his leadership. Those who eschew party labels were the most turned off by the Christie/Trump pairing. A third (34%) of independents reported approval if asked before the endorsement, compared with only 18 percent of those asked after Governor Christie threw his support behind Trump.”

“Christie’s return to his roots after suspending his White House run was an opportunity to reestablish some good will with voters. But joining forces with Donald Trump was hardly a vehicle for getting voters to reconsider their sour mood toward the Governor,” explained Krista Jenkins, a FDU political science professor and director of FDU’s PublicMind.

  1. Gov. Pant Load is the perfect symbol of everything wrong with New Jersey: he’s a scheming, bloated, bloviating, self-aggrandizing asshole.

But then…you elected him, New Jersey. Now embrace the suck and choke on it for as long as he remains in office.
