christie trumpChris Christie once dismissed religion-based criticisms of his state court appointee Sohail Mohammed as “Internet blog BS” and those who were making the most noise over it as “crazies.”

Today?

The New Jersey Governor seemingly reversed course, defending Donald Trump’s controversial declaration that an American-born federal judge overseeing his Trump University lawsuitGonzalo Curiel, was somehow too biased to rule based solely on the judge’s Mexican heritage.

“In the end, there are always going to be conflicts regarding civil lawsuits,” Christie told reporters gathered outside of his Mendham (Morris County) primary polling station. “Those are Donald’s opinions. He has a right to express them, the same way anyone else has a right to express any of their views regarding how they’re treated in the civil or criminal courts in this country. That’s part of what free speech is all about.”

“I know Donald Trump. I’ve known him for 14 years. And Donald Trump is not a racist,” Christie added.

Christie is a Trump delegate and serves as the unofficial leader of the presumptive GOP nominee’s transition efforts.
