THE LIST: Christie names 900+ stalled TTF-funded projects

Governor Chris Christie‘s pre-July 4th Weekend executive order shuttering state road projects in the wake of a transportation trust fund stalemate is being implemented, Save Jerseyans.

constructionAll work on ongoing projects funded by the TTF — currently underway in 440 of New Jersey’s 565 municipalities — will cease no later than 11:59 p.m. on July 8th for a period of at least seven days.

The list was compiled over the course of the weekend by state Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and NJ TRANSIT (NJT) employees.

A pdf list of NJTransit state-funded projects can be found here; the TTF project shutdown list is right here.

Suspended projects include the replacement of bridges on Route 54 and Route 322 in Folsom and on Route 10 in Middletown and Red Bank, work on Route 166 in Toms River, dredging for Monmouth County’s Shark River, and improvements to a connection between Garden State Parkway’s Exit 91 and Burnt Tavern Road in Brick.

“As Governor, I am entrusted with the responsibility to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of this State, as well as the responsibility to aid in the prevention of damage, loss, or destruction of property in the event of emergencies affecting the State,” Governor Christie stated in signing Executive Order No. 210. “As this executive order states, in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of this State, it is necessary that the remaining amounts held by the TTF not be spent on any transportation project that is not absolutely essential.”

Federally-funded projects are also excluded from the shutdown.
