Crazy Eddie, one of New Jersey’s most insaaaaane criminals, dies at 68

There isn’t a New Jerseyan alive during the 1980s who doesn’t remember ‘Crazy Eddie’ (whose real name was Eddie Antar) whose colorful electronics store chain commercials were as brilliant as they were deceitful given the federal fraud that ultimately brought down his empire.

The company collapsed in 1989; Eddie fled to Israel not long thereafter but he was later extradited back to the United States and served a prison sentence.

It’s a tale that could make even some of New Jersey’s more corrupt politicians blush.

Well, Crazy Eddie’s insaaaaaane journey (pardon the bad pun) He passed away on Saturday at age 68.
