Christie dishes on Great Wall of Trump: “I disagreed with him because I was running against him”

Governor Chris Christie reportedly helped broker this past week’s Trump trip to Mexico, Save Jerseyans, and he stood by the GOP nominee’s approach to foreign affairs on Sunday morning’s edition of Face the Nation on CBS.

“Of course I disagreed with him because I was running against him,” the N.J. Governor shot back at his host when asked about his primary season criticism of Donald Trump’s plans to erect a wall along America’s southern border with Mexico.

“It’s not going to happen. It’s the wrong message to send, and it’s not going to be effective,” Christie said during a July 2015 town hall. “Always beware of the candidate for public office who has the quick and easy answer to a complicated problem. .[..] There may be certain spots where it makes sense to build a wall or build a fence, but not the whole thing.”
