TRENTON, N.J. — Hold onto your wallets, Save Jerseyans.
The New Jersey State Legislature returned from its summer recess this week, and the minority party was eager to point out the lack of progress for taxpayers on the majority party’s to-do list.
Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick was joined ahead of the Thursday voting session by Assemblywomen Holly Schepisi (R-Bergen) and Amy Handlin (R-Monmouth), the Republican deputy leader; and Assemblymen Scott Rumana (R-Passaic), the Republican whip; Anthony M. Bucco (R-Morris), the Republican deputy leader; and Jay Webber (R-Morris).
“The word that hasn’t been used today is urgency. There needs to be a sense of urgency on the part of the majority to solve the number one problem in the state, which is the crushing burden of property taxes on New Jersey’s property tax payers. The message coming out of today needs to be to the Democrats: waiting until January 2018 is not a property tax relief plan,” said Webber, who represents the 26th Legislative District.
“Instead of putting that on the floor, instead of putting that in committee, today we have on our board list the all-important ‘Sip, shuck and slurp weekend’ resolution,” he added.
