REPORT: Police arrest two men accused of shooting A.C. officer

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Two men accused of shooting an Atlantic City police officer outside of Caesars casino are now in custody.

The suspects — 19-year-old Martell Chisholm of Millville and 28-year-old Demetrius Cross of Bridgeton — will each be charged with two counts of attempted murder, three counts of robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and two counts of conspiracy to commit possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Shots were reportedly fired early Saturday morning after two officers, including the injured officer, happened upon a robbery in progress near the Caesars Atlantic City parking garage located on Arkansas Avenue.

One suspect from Camden is dead after the second officer returned fire.

The injured officer remains in critical condition after surgery at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
