There isn’t a person reading this post who isn’t fit to be tied over the 23-cent gas tax hike that went into effect on Tuesday, Save Jerseyans.
Plenty of you want to do something about it. Unfortunately, the legislative offenders aren’t subject to our righteous electoral wrath until next November (2017).
There is one exception. Do you live in East Brunswick, Edison, Helmetta, Highland Park, South River, Metuchen, or South Plainfield?
You’re in luck. LD18 has a special election on Tuesday.
State Senator Peter Barnes, a Democrat, resigned back in April to take a seat with the Superior Court. In May, Asm. Patrick Diegnan was selected by the Middlesex County Democratic Organization to fill his seat and Edison Councilman Robert Karabinchak was selected to take Diegnan’s Assembly seat.
All three LD18 Democrats voted FOR the gas tax.
A special election is set for November 8th to fill the remainder of Barnes’ and Diegnan’s respective terms which expire January 2018. Retired Judge Roger Daley and his running mate, Camille Clark, are seeking the Senate and Assembly posts, respectively, in the GOP’s Column A. You can learn more about both candidates here.
Talk is cheap but your gas isn’t, Middlesex County.
You can’t complain if you don’t pitch in for Daley and Clark over the next several days. Vote if you can; spread the word or volunteer if that’s not an option. Make me proud…
