Ridgewood Mayor, Council gets behind DeNicola’s LD40 Assembly bid

denicola RidgewoodFreeholder Maura DeNicola has only been in the race for the open LD40 Assembly seat vacated by Scott Rumana for about a week, Save Jerseyans, but the veteran Bergen GOP politico is moving quickly.

“I just received the endorsement of the entire Mayor & Council of the Village of Ridgewood for my candidacy in the election for the District 40 Assembly vacancy left by the departure and Judgeship of Scott Rumana,” DeNicola announced via Facebook on Saturday. “I can’t thank Ridgewood enough for their confidence in my leadership. The County Committee election for this vacancy will be held Tuesday evening – a very fast process and one in which I am working diligently to prevail.”

DeNicola lost her freeholder seat on November 8th when Bergen County Republicans were swept from their last remaining county-wide posts.

The 40th District County Committee is scheduled to convene tomorrow, November 22, 2016.

DeNicola is facing off againstĀ Michael Marotta of Wayne and Kevin Rooney of Wyckoff in a contentious fight that has exposed deep fault lines in the Passaic and Bergen Republican organizations.
