Veteran N.J. GOP operative Tom Szymanski lands key role in Trump-targeted state

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – President Donald Trump was in Dallas, Texas on Thursday night hosting one of his patented mega rallies, but last week’s Minnesota event indicates how seriously the Republican incumbent’s reelection machine is taking the only state Ronald Reagan failed to carry in 1984. Trump’s team hopes to expand its Midwestern firewall in the event that Democrats retake territory in states with disloyal battleground suburbs.

Central to the effort to flip Minnesota is the U.S. Senate campaign of Jason Lewis and Lewis’s new campaign manager and communications director Tom Szymanski, a long-time veteran of New Jersey Republican campaigns.

An Ocean County-based operative, Szymanski recently served as a Christie Field Director and later County Party Executive Director for the Monmouth GOP as well as in a senior role with the 2017 Guadagno campaign.

The Lewis campaign is running to unseat Democrat Tina Smith but it’s messaging thus far has placed a heavy emphasis on the state’s most notorious member of Congress, squad member Ilhan Omar.

Here’s video of President Trump acknowledging Lewis at the Minneapolis rally; Szymanski (bearded with glasses) is sitting at Lewis’s immediate right (your left):
