Christie Exceeds Fundraising Goal

Christie '09 Campaign BusGovernor Chris Christie’s campaign promised to raise $2 million between its official launch on November 26, 2012 and the end of the year. It’s all part of his winning big strategy.

Well, they hit the mark… and with $100k to spare.

“Governor Christie’s campaign continues to gain momentum because New Jerseyans believe in his decisive leadership,” said campaign strategist Mike DuHaime. “This unprecedented financial support in such a short time demonstrates the overwhelming support from residents across the Garden State. Governor Christie has made tough choices to achieve real progress on meaningful reforms for all New Jerseyans. Whether it’s cutting taxes, improving education or pension and benefit reform, Governor Christie has fought for a middle-class reform agenda that protects taxpayers and reins in the cost of government.”

$2.1 million. Not too shabby for the first 36 days….

DuHaime told our pal Art over at MMM that Governor Christie has yet to make a decision regarding whether to accept matching funds. Christie did accept them last time around, but he was also in a much weaker fundraising position in ’09. Stay tuned.

Christie’s only announced opponent, state Senator Barbara Buono, reportedly brought in just shy of $250k over roughly the same period.
