Snow fall totals continue to vary widely at this hour, Save Jerseyans, but it’s clear enough that officials aren’t taking the possible weather being foretasted Monday evening lightly.
Late Monday afternoon, Governor Chris Christie declared a State of Emergency, allowing Emergency Management personnel to coordinate preparations and closing state offices to all but essential personnel on Tuesday, March 14th.
“This severe winter storm is expected to produce tonight through Tuesday afternoon significant snow accumulations, winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour, freezing temperatures, widespread coastal flooding and hazardous whiteout travel conditions,” Governor Christie said in a statement. “During these threatening conditions, I urge all New Jerseyans to remain off the roads so our first responders and public safety officers can safely and efficiently handle emergency situations.”
Chief Justice Stuart Rabner also shuttered New Jersey’s state courts.
Some regions of the state may see blizzard conditions from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon; others are expected to see an upwards of 20 inches of snow:
