THUNDER ROAD: Smith, LoBiondo Join Lance in Opposing Ryan’s AHCA

Leonard Lance (R, NJ-07) isn’t the only N.J. GOP Congressman that’s planning to vote against the AHCA, aka Ryancare or “Trumpcare” on Thursday, Save Jerseyans.

Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ2)

“I appreciate Vice President Pence, Speaker Ryan and the House Republican leadership for considering these serious concerns during our recent meetings on this proposal. Unfortunately, the changes outlined do not go far enough to address key and vital issues I have on the bill’s impact on residents and businesses in South Jersey,” Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R, NJ-02) announced on Wednesday. “Simply put, this bill does not meet the standards of what was promised; it is not as good as or better than what we currently have. Accordingly, I will vote no on this healthcare plan.”

Rep. Chris Smith (R, NJ-04) voiced similar concerns to regional media.

Smith COULD end up being the decisive NAY vote but we won’t know until tomorrow. With less than 24 hours to go before the big vote, Capitol Hill watchers failed to agree as to whether House Leadership could whip enough skeptical conservative votes to rescue the package.

Rodney Frelinghuysen (R, NJ-11), Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, remained noncommittal as of Wednesday night.

Tom MacArthur (R, NJ-03) is the only committed YEA vote out of the entire New Jersey congressional delegation.
