MAYHEM: Christie Orders NJ TRANSIT Execs to Staff Stations While Murphy, Guadagno Spar

A minor N.J. Transit derailment on Monday has turned into a regional transportation nightmare, Save Jerseyans, given Penn Station’s “choke point” status within the Northeastern mass transit infrastructure.

New Jersey’s Governor’s solution?

Compulsory outreach.

“Governor Chris Christie today ordered NJ TRANSIT executives to personally appear at stations throughout the agency’s system to discuss Monday’s train derailment at Pennsylvania Station in New York,” explained Christie spokesman Brian Murray in a release. “The governor remains fully aware of commuter frustrations with this week’s gridlock-causing disruptions and urges officials from Amtrak to work with New Jersey and New York mass transportation agencies to resolve this unacceptable situation. NJ TRANSIT senior officials will assist commuters at Newark, Hoboken and New York stations during rush hour today and tomorrow.”

Christie’s most likely successor, Democrat Phil Murphy, was quick to pounce:

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, herself a candidate to succeed Christie, offered more specifics than Murphy:
