SOURCES: N.J. weed legalization vote planned for November 26th

TRENTON, N.J. — According to multiple State House/State Street sources, word filtered out on Friday afternoon that the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee AND the Assembly’s equivalent committee are planning to consider long-awaited legislation to legalize marijuana on Monday, November 26th.

The sources — including a seasoned legislative staffer — said that the date could still change as last minute jockeying and horse-trading continues behind the scenes. Confidence nevertheless exuded from our sources that a vote was imminent. 

Debates over taxation and other issues impacting by the legations, such as how to address possession by a minor, have delayed the anticipate legalization push for months. Democrats had indicated their desire to wrap up the process by the end of 2018 notwithstanding lingering doubts as to whether that goal was feasible.
