Authorities say Honduran illegal immigrant killed N.J. nanny, dumped her body in a lake

On Sunday? Authorities arrested their suspect: an alleged illegal immigrant from the country of Honduras.

Jorge Rios (age 33) stands accused of murdering 45-year-old Carolina Cano. According to WNBC-TV, Cano’s roommate reported seeing the nanny leave for an early morning run at or about 5:30 a.m. She was found just two hours later deceased in a Lincoln Park lake. The Hudson County Medical Examiner’s Office believes Cano had been sexually assaulted and strangled prior to being put into the lake.

ICE told News12 New Jersey that the suspect had been deported TWICE in the early 2000’s.

The story is also making international headlines.

New Jersey is a “Sanctuary State” in which the Murphy Administration directed local authorities to NOT cooperate with federal immigration authorities. The declaration sells well with Leftist activists but illegal aliens — including those accused or even convicted of violent crimes — can now operate in New Jersey with impunity.

Governor Phil Murphy’s recently introduced budget proposals includes new funding to help illegals fight deportation actions with the assistance of counsel.
