Christie a RINO No Longer?

RGGI may finally end, Save Jerseyans. Some people thought this was a Christie-supported plan but it was actually a Corzine-enacted plan:

APP: NJ may withdraw from emissions-reduction effort

An environmental group has ratcheted up its criticism of Gov. Chris Christie โ€” this time because the governor says he is contemplating withdrawing New Jersey from a regional regulatory program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative pact among 10 states is the first market-based emissions cap-and-trade program in the United States, though conservatives have mocked it as “cap-and-tax.”

Christie at a town hall meeting in Nutley last week said the state’s participation is being re-evaluated. He indicated the program could be excluded from a new master energy plan for the state.

“The upside to it is that it helps to create some revenue that you can use to be able to reinvest in green initiatives in the state,” Christie said. “The downside is that it does place a burden on business in the state.”

Christie noted that Pennsylvania isn’t participating and said that could give businesses in the Keystone State a competitive advantage over entities here.
