Christie Elected Vice Chair of RGA, Still Not Running For President

In another display of “I’m definitely not running for President, please stop talking about it,” Governor Christie has taken the position of Vice Chairman for the Republican Governor’s Association. Christie as a pick for the position should be no surprise to anyone. The Governor has traveled all over the country talking at RGA events since he was elected Governor in 2009. He has proved to be a clutch fundraiser for the RGA, and that is really their only purpose. Having someone like Christie who can rally a GOP base wherever he goes will bring more money to the coffers and raise excitement for conservative gubernatorial candidates everywhere.

This of course means that Governor Christie is still not running for President. The likelihood is even less now. Until recently Governor Perry was the Chairman of the RGA, but he stepped down to, you guessed it, run for President. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has now filled that role and tapped our Governor to take on his former position.

You do not take an executive position in the RGA if you are going to run for President, you leave the RGA to do so. This should hopefully settle down the rumors and let Christie get on with being the King-maker he wants to be (and we need him to be) in 2012.
