Next week, one of the Republicans who hopes to take on well-heeled freshman Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D, NJ-05) next fall will formally launch his campaign in North Jersey.
Former Cresskill Councilman John McCann’s launch event is planned for Saturday, November 18th at the Paramus VFW Post 6699.
McCann’s current field of likely primary opponents includes Warren County Freeholder Jason Sarnowski and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan (who recently qualified for the NRCC’s ‘Young Guns’ program).
Gottheimer’s district is considered “swing” but dipping Republican fortunes and the Democrat’s $2 million cash on hand bounty has led prognosticators to consider the district “lean Democrat” this cycle.
