Sauickie wins LD12 convention to succeed Dancer

Jackson Council Vice President Alex Sauickie won a LD12 GOP special convention on Thursday evening to succeed the late Assemblyman Ronald Dancer in the General Assembly. Sauickie received 106 votes.

It wasn’t close.

Recently-returned Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore threw in behind Plumsted Township Committeeman Dominick Cuozzo who finished a distant second with 44 votes.

Ex-Jackson Councilman Scott Martin finished a distant 3rd with only 3 votes.

The vacancy was created when the long-time Ocean legislator Dancer passed away at the end of July.
