Zdan wins Passaic GOP line

Alex Zdan won his second county line on Thursday night, Save Jerseyans, a significant development which further cements the GOP nomination contest as competitive (even if the general election will be an uphill climb for the minority party).

Zdan, a former News 12 journalist, has now won two counties: Passiac, a lean-blue county, and Monmouth, a mostly reliably red county with a large bucket of primary voters.

Cape May developer Curtis Bashaw came out on top in Somerset, Atlantic, Cumberland and Ocean counties and is expected to secure his home base of Cape May as well as Burlington County and, if the screening committee vote bears fruit, Middlesex County, too; Mendham Mayor Christine Glassner was the victor in Morris, Hunderdon and Warren counties and won the Bergen policy committee vote.

Democrat Tammy Murphy is winning the overall line battle on the other side of the aisle, but her opponent Congressman Andy Kim leads the governor’s wife in polling.
