County committee members are apparently in a change-oriented mood this spring, Save Jerseyans.
On Tuesday night, Watchung GOP municipal chair Tracy DiFrancesco (former Donald DiFrancesco’s daughter) defeated attorney and party activist Tim Howes for the Somerset County Republican chairmanship, 222 to 140.
Howes had succeeded long-time chairman Al Gaburo after Gaburo stepped down in 2020. Not unlike Burlington County, Somerset is a relatively affluent former GOP stronghold that’s suburbs have trended leftward in recent cycles amid the national Trump-era realignment.
Gloucester and Union County Republicans also elected new chairs this week with Carlos Santos defeating Bramnick ally Glenn Mortimer in Union County and Adam Wingate overcoming Jacci Vigilante in Gloucester County on Monday evening.
