The Kamala Ruse

Cross-Posted from DaleGlading.com

The Cambridge Dictionary defines the word ruse as “a trick intended to deceive someone.” Yep, that pretty much sums up the Kamala Harris campaign for president… and the manner in which the Democratic Party powerbrokers and their allies in the mainstream media are treating Joe Biden’s newly appointed heir apparent.

In less than 72 hours, she has gone from being a national laughingstock and a decided drag on the Democratic ticket to the second coming of the Messiah.

The Democratic elite in Washington (Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi), and Martha’s Vineyard (Barack and Michelle Obama) are thrilled to be rid of Joe Biden once and for all. For them, he has served his purpose as a useful idiot, willing to say and do anything he was told in exchange for the office he has craved and coveted since 1988. Meanwhile, the jury is still out on how the residents of Chappaqua, New York feel about Cackling Kamala being selected to replace Geritol Joe. My guess is that Bill is glad, and Hillary is mad.

Now that Kamala has seemingly secured enough delegates to win the nomination, her former critics are calling her the best thing since sliced bread. And you can bet the upcoming Democratic National Convention will be a virtual lovefest with Kamala being showered with flowery accolades while Joe is bid a fond – and long overdue – farewell.

Party unity will be stressed in saccharin-laced speeches, despite the fact that the DNC was fractured beyond repair just a few short weeks ago. It’s funny how kicking an 81-year-old dementia patient to the curb makes everyone want to hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

Free of Joe’s stilted walk and mumbling talk, the Democrats are now rallying around Kamala like worker bees around their beloved queen. They know that if they can prop her up in the media, the uninformed masses may very well follow. After all, the ruse only has to last another 104 days. After November 5th, they could care less if the voters experience buyer’s remorse.

It’s all about P-O-W-E-R… and the Democrats will do anything to gain it, keep it, and exploit it. If that means demonizing Donald Trump while ramping up the rhetoric that led to the recent assassination attempt, so be it. And if it also means pretending that Kamala Harris has the IQ of a brain surgeon and the likability of Mr. Rogers, well, that’s O.K. too.

So what if she has trouble putting together a cohesive sentence and why is it a big deal that, as VP, her staff has experienced a 92% turnover rate?

If Kamala can somehow stop that insipid laugh of hers, the Democrats feel they have a fighting chance this fall. And so, they will talk incessantly about women’s “reproductive rights” and gun violence while downplaying Kamala’s abject failure as border czar.

Playing identity politics is what the Dems do best, so look for them to focus the Harris campaign on women and minorities instead of actual policies (other than the aforementioned infanticide).

Also, look for her to pick Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona as her vice-presidential running mate to burnish the ticket’s foreign policy and military credentials while shoring up support in the potentially pivotal Southwest.
